The next meeting of the Summer Institute in Economic Geography will be hosted by the Department of Geography at the University of Kentucky, July 10-15, 2016. The meeting will be organized by Susan Roberts, Michael Samers, Andrew Wood, Matthew Zook, and Jamie Peck.
As with previous meetings, it is expected that the costs of accommodation and other local expenses will be covered for all participants, though it is possible that a modest registration fee will be charged. Stipends will be available to cover the costs of travel to the meeting for those participants without other sources of funding.

The Summer Institute provides an opportunity to investigate leading-edge theoretical and methodological questions, along with a range of associated career development issues, in the field of economic geography, broadly defined. The meeting features contributions from internationally renowned figures in economic geography.

Open to doctoral students (usually post-fieldwork), postdoctoral researchers, and recently appointed faculty/lecturers (normally within three years of first continuing appointment), the Summer Institute comprises an intensive, week-long program of activities designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the innovatory developments and enduring controversies in this fast-moving field.
